EIA 2020: A 'rubber stamp' for environmental degradation

On March 12, 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, India’s Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) released the Environmental Impact Assessment Notification 2020 as an amendment to the EIA Notification 2006. However, the draft EIA 2020 proposes a legal regime that could potentially increase the environmental hazards to forest dwellers, endangered species and the overall ecosystem. Reject EIA 2020.
