“Kattar Hindus” gloat even before Babri verdict, disparaging Muslims

Sabrangindia 15 Nov 2019

While some videos have picked out anti-Pakistan dialogues from Hindi Movies with ‘Jai Shree Ram’ chants in the background, some are outrightly threatening the Muslim community , deriding their community and faith, dubbing them ‘Pakistanis’.

Our take: This level of hate on social media is one step away from blood-letting and intimidation on the streets. It builds up and legitimising not just an othering but a hatred and suspicion of Muslims and Islam that endangers the existential dignity and physical existnece of every Muslim in India’s public sphere. Gven the ‘mobs’ at work physically enacting the hatred spewed on social media, this needs to stop. Authorties in the police, administration and governments must take action. NOW!

Hate Speech Violates Indian Law: Sections 153(a)(b) and 295 of the Indian Penal Code. Hate Speech is un-Constitutional. It Violates Article 14, 15, 16, 21 of the Indian Constitution in letter and spirit. Prosecute the Hate Mongers!

Coal Privatisation : Is Modi sarkar putting India's Adivasis and environment on the line?

On 18th June 2020, PM Narendra Modi launched the auction of 41 coal blocks across India for commercial mining, under the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. But massive protests from several quarters, including the 3-day all India coal workers’ trade unions strike, is a major reminder of what’s at stake for the millions of Adivasi lives; and our environment at large.
