BJP MP suggests Shaheen Bagh protesters are rapists

Sabrangindia 28 Jan 2020

Parvesh Verma, a BJP MP has stoked controversy once again. In an interview to ANI, Verma said, "Lakhs of people gather there [Shaheen Bagh]. People of Delhi will have to think and take a decision. They will enter your houses, rape your sisters and daughters, kill them." Verma added, “There's time today, Modi ji and Amit Shah won't come to save you tomorrow." Considering that Shaheen Bagh protests are led by women, this is a particularly bizarre and illogical comment.

"This election [Delhi poll] is not a small election but that for stability and unity of the country. If a government of the Bharatiya Janata Party is formed on the February 11, then after an hour no one will be seen in Shaheen Bagh," said West Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Verma.

He also threatened Shaheen Bagh’s peaceful sit in against CAA by saying that once BJP comes to power in Delhi, it will only take an hour to clear out the protest.

Recently, he had also said in one of his tweets that the mosques that are built on government lands in Delhi will be razed if BJP comes to power in Delhi.

Our take: BJP’s hate politics has become very potent especially in the background of the ongoing anti-CAA protests and state elections. Last year Jharkhand, and now Delhi is being used as a breeding ground for their communally charged diatribe.
