Ranchi High Court on Tuesday, December 10 granted bail to six accused in Tabrez Ansari lynching case. Ansari was seen on national television being beaten up with rods while tied to a pole and forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ over alleged theft in June. Out of six accused given bail by the high court, one was granted bail yesterday.

While pronouncing the order, the Ranchi High Court said that there is no specific allegation against the accused and the crime is general in nature. The accused were not named in the FIR as well, Sadab Ansari who appeared for the victim said to Newsd.

A Allam, senior advocate, Ranchi High Court who appeared on behalf of Shaishta Parveen, wife of the seceded Tabrez Ansari told the media that, “It is very difficult for the victim to fight against each accused in these type of cases where a mob is involved in the crime.” Ansari was brutally lynched by villagers who alleged that he was with a ‘stolen bike’. He was thrashed in Seraikela-Kharsawa district on June 17, 2019. In September, this year police had dropped murder charges against all the 13 accused in the Tabrez Ansari mob lynching casein Jharkhand’s Saraikela-Kharsawan district.

A week after the Jharkhand police dropped the murder charge against 11 accused in the mob lynching case, they brought back the same charge on the accused after obtaining a fresh medical report.
