Saffron Colour to the Disaster Response Forces: UP

The uniform of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been given a saffron colour in Adityanath-ruled Uttar Pradesh. The DGP Om Prakash Singh mentioned SDRF in his address while attending the Raitik Parade that started in Lucknow on Tuesday with the commencement of Police week.

An officer who was involved in deciding the colour of the uniform, justified the move saying that they did not want to imitate other states for the uniform. He clarified that the uniform did not just have saffron color but also black. Reportedly he said that this has been done so that the Jawans “look different”. Behind the uniform, SDRF is written in yellow.

SDRF was formed last year on the lines of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on a priority basis for carrying out relief and rescue operations in the event of a natural calamity. Last month, vehicles were also provided to the SDRF. Right now three battalions of SDRF are being made ready which includes earthquake response dal, major accident force and flood relief forces.
