They also reportedly shouted slogans of “chopping up Muslims” during the rally

Supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party allegedly openly threatened a Congress MLA on Tuesday during a pro-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rally in Mangaluru which was also attended by Rajnath Singh, reported News18.

Speaking in the Tulu language, the men are dressed in saffron head-gear and allegedly shouting slogans of “chopping up Muslims”, with one of the protestors reportedly threatening to “behead” and beat up Congress MLA UT Khader.

Speaking to News18 about the video, UT Khader said that he would not take any action against the people who threatened to behead him because he was concerned for their families, further mentioning that those BJP workers neither had any awareness of the workings of the CAA nor the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Stating that the BJP and Sangh Parivar had a hidden agenda behind the implementation of the CAA he said, “Even the youths shouting against me in the video will turn against the BJP when they are asked to provide documents to prove their grandparents’ religion.”

“The protests won’t stop with my head. If beheading me, makes you happy, I’ll come where you call me. Take my head peacefully, but think about the people in your families. They won’t have money to pay the lawyers to fight such cases,” he added.
