New ICSSR chief’s novel ideas: Caste because of invasions, Modi worst victim of intolerance

ICSSR, New Delhi

If you believe caste in its present form and untouchability are all because of Arab, Turk and Mughal invaders, if you think India’s best prime minister, Narendra Modi is also the worst victim of intolerance, if you maintain that Macaulay and Marxists are responsible for India’s intellectual decline, who better than you to hold the top post at the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), the country’s apex body for promoting social science research?

So, it happened that BB Kumar has newly been appointed ICSSR’s chairperson, the Indian Express reports. An anthropologist by training, Kumar was appointed by the HRD Ministry on May 2 after being shortlisted by Ashok Modak, a former BJP MLC and National Research Professor and Satish Mittal, president of the RSS backed Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana.

Kumar a former principal of a college in Nagaland has written, edited and co-authored 136 books. But what possibly tipped the scales in his favour are a series of editorials he wrote in Dialogue between 2015 and 2016.

The new ICSSR chief’s novel ideas, as detailed by the Indian Express may be read here.
