Varanasi: PM Narendra Modi is rumoured to be visiting Ayodhya to begin pre-election campaigns from the disputed and controversial land of Ram Mandir. A snippet in the Hindi Newspaper Hindustan, a Hindi daily of Hindustan Times, claims that he will visit Ayodhya on June 28.

Published on Tuesday, the article also said that though he will be fighting the 2019 General Elections as a candidate from Kashi, the visit seems politically motivated to stoke the controversy around the Ram Temple and bring the issue back into the spotlight. The news of PM Modi beginning his election campaign from Ram Janmbhoomi came from BJP state president of Uttar Pradesh, Mahendranath Pandey.

It is being said that PM Modi will lead his first big pre-election campaign rally from Faizabad and important announcements will be made.

PM Modi was to visit the shrine in 2013 before the last general election before he cancelled the plan.
