New Delhi: Delhi Minorities Commission has constituted a committee to probe the allegations of a mosque being built using terror funds in Haryana. It was reported that the committee members will tour the area, talk to police, administration, officials of the local panchayat, people of the area and members of the affected families in order to reach to the bottom of the issue.

“The committee is headed by the known human rights activist Ovais Sultan Khan, a member of DMC’s advisory committee, Sardar Gurmindar Singh Matharu, member of Sikh Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee Amritsar, and the well-known advocate and human rights worker Abu Bakr Sabbaq,” a report said.

It was reported that the committee will file its report to the commission next week. They may also meet the affected families of the members who have been arrested in the case in Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi.

A mosque in Uttawar village in Palwal district of Haryana has come under national scrutiny after the National Investigation Agency alleged that it was built from terror funds that came from Hafiz Saeed-led Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Pakistan.

The Khulafa-e-Rashideen masjid was searched by NIA officers on October 3, days after the agency arrested three men on September 26, including the Imam of the masjid, Mohammed Salman, in New Delhi in an alleged terror-funding case.

NIA claimed that Salman had received Rs. 70 Lakh and money for his daughters’ marriages through a hawala network after coming in contact with a Pakistani national in Dubai. The Pakistani citizen named Kamran is said to be connected with the Deputy Chief of Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF). NIA claimed that Lahore based FIF is an NGO set up by Hafiz Saeed’s Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), Lashkar’s parent organisation.
