Meerut: Local BJP leader threatens cop, says will hold Hindu prayers on Eid eve.

A viral video, said to be from Hashimpura Meerut shows how hatemongers are still plotting using religion to unleash unrest. Here a policeman on duty, who is trying to maintain peace and harmony in his jurisdiction is being openly threatened by a local politician.
According to news reports one Kamal Dutt Sharma, said to be local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ‘leader’ from Meerut, is threatening to hold a Hindu religious function on the eve of Eid on May 2. Inspector (Civil Line) Ramesh Chandra Sharma is seen and heard trying to reason with him that it is a communally sensitive area, and is the month of Ramzan. The inspector tells Sharma that he will not allow “any unauthorised jagran (community prayers), or public prayers without permission”. The policeman is attempting to prevent any unrest and riots in the city as a result of any communal tensions flaring up.
Sharma however, threatens the policeman that the ‘jagran’ or the community prayer gathering usually held late into the night, will be held on the scheduled date of May 2. “If you can stop it, then stop it,” said Kamal Dutt Sharma.

According to news reports Deepak Sharma, president of Durga Mandir and also a BJP ‘leader’ said they have told the “District administration, SP city and public representatives” of their intention to hold the Hindu prayer gathering on the eve of Eid.
