According to news reports one Kamal Dutt Sharma, said to be local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ‘leader’ from Meerut, is threatening to hold a Hindu religious function on the eve of Eid on May 2. The inspector tells Sharma that he will not allow “any unauthorised jagran (community prayers), or public prayers without permission”.
