Implement SC Order, take preventive action against Sakal Hindu Samaj Event of Feb 5, 27 : petition to CP Mumbai

27 human rights organisations have today addressed a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner (CP) and the Director General of Police (DGP) Maharashtra demanding minute implementation of SC order of February 3

Rights organisations have urged Commissioner of Police Maharashtra, Vivek Phansalkar urging that amongst others there is swift and minute implementation of the 

(1) Supreme Court directions issued on 03.02.2023 to take preventive action against hate speech at the Sakal Hindu Samaj Meeting planned on 05.02.2023. 

The collective memorandum also urged that

(2) in light of the past incidents of communal hate speech and calls for violence issued at their rallies/events, including at the Hindu Jan Akrosh Morcha organised by the Sakal Hindu Samaj on January 29, 2023 in Mumbai, the meeting planned on February 5, 2023 be not be allowed to take place. It also urges for immediate criminal action against the perpetrators who have indulged in communal hate speech.

Besides  the petition states that 

(3) curbing of hateful and inciteful speech against minorities and protecting the secular values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

The DGP Maharashtra, Rajnish Seth has also been petitioned.
